“Illiquid educational happiness” in the Baltic States

Today, in the Baltic countries at different levels discussed topic to attract foreign students to study in the Baltic universities, representatives of which they took all possible means to advertise their establishments.

Is it worth it to get an education in the Baltic or not? Today this question with confidence, you can give a definite negative response. After all, the recent high school graduates each year go abroad to study in search of a decent European education, and the same qualified teachers who could pass on their knowledge to young compatriots are forced to leave their country in search of a decent higher paying jobs in a foreign country … it does not matter, as anyone. And this process is probably already irreversible.

By the way, last year in the Baltic States the total number of residents declined faster than in other European Union countries.

According to the teacher of the Institute of International Relations and Political Sciences of Vilnius University Deauville Yonavichene, people are disappointed in the prospects in Lithuania. She noted that the emigration help and talk about the sad predictions - the more dramatic, the more people seem to be prospects of gray.

In turn, in an interview with TV show “Panorma” channel LTV-1 head of the Center for International Cooperation of the Latvian Agricultural University Waldemars Bariss said: “The number of students in Latvia is reduced due to demographic reasons of competition for the remaining high school graduates are also quite high - this resource. limited. ”

In Lithuania and Latvia the media in this regard is already gaining popularity anecdote: “Who is the last will leave the country, even turn off the lights at the airport.” As the saying goes, “laughter through tears”.

Therefore, for those who remained in the Baltic countries, the education system is nothing to do but to every possible lure of European students who, by the way, do not seek for any price to get an education in the third grade.

Is that Asians have the opportunity to get an education, and together with him and residency, which subsequently enable them to safely dissolve in any EU country. And even potential foreign students in Estonia and Latvia to obtain a residence permit and immediately leave the country, as it was with three students from Pakistan and dozens of Bangladeshis. Higher education institutions, giving such privileges to foreigners only see slight profit in the process.

So, for the preparation of documents to the foreigners took more than 1 000 euros, and the registration process is started only after the receipt of this amount.

However, heads of universities do not consider the risk that, posing as students in the Schengen countries can enter radical individuals associated with terrorist organizations, thus becoming a potential accomplices of terrorism in Europe.

Furthermore, universities are not prepared to provide an opportunity for learning, not only in the native language of an alien, but even in English, for teaching it does not own.

So, who wants to become a student of one of the universities of the Baltic countries should begin to study there the language, as well as prepare all the necessary documents for the university and the embassy, which must be translated into the local language and properly certified by a notary. It should also be borne in mind that the bottom bracket of tuition fees for foreigners - one and a half thousand euros per year.

Despite obvious difficulties for foreign students at an early stage, interested in engaging in the Baltic universities potential students specifically create the illusion of simplicity and availability of training.

However, in the sense that education is small, and which here could ever teach? The Baltic States can be regarded only as a transit point:. All the same standard of living, wages in Germany, Austria, Italy, and others much higher.

In addition, the rating given Times Higher Education, shows that the ratio of “easy income / education / price prospects after graduation” is not close and the higher education institutions of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia among the top 200 European universities. So why the Europeans to go to some Baltic States in search of “illiquid educational happiness” if somewhere nearby, or, in extreme cases, there are notable entrants schools in the neighboring country?

Watching the truth, Vice-Rector of the Higher School Turiba business in Latvia Imants Bergs said: “Let’s think logically: who send their children to study in the country, about which it had heard nothing, even if there is a high quality education?”.
